مشاريع Let's Pitch It
Mubadereen | صحي وصايم / Sahi wa Sayem
The app that makes fasting with diabetes safe — Arabic-first, built on the international Diabetes & Ramadan (DAR) guidelines.
المشكلة المستهدفة
Every Ramadan, the overwhelming majority of people with diabetes fast — most of them against medical advice, and most without the pre-Ramadan assessment guidelines call for. Fasting with diabetes drives a large spike in severe hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, DKA, and dehydration-related events. Saudi Arabia has one of the highest diabetes rates in the world stacked on top of a near-universal drive to fast. The tools that exist are generic glucose loggers: none are Ramadan-specific, none are in decent Arabic, none implement the guideline logic for adjusting medication around suhoor and iftar. The patient is left guessing whether to take their pill, when, and whether it's okay to break the fast.
الحل المقترح
Solution — three modules - Pre-Ramadan risk check. Short structured intake (diabetes type, meds, HbA1c, hypo/DKA history, kidney function, pregnancy, physical job). Outputs the DAR risk tier (low → very-high) in plain Arabic with the guideline's fasting recommendation, and a one-page PDF to bring to the doctor — turning "should I fast?" into a documented visit. Gemini turns a photo of the Wasfaty/prescription list into structured meds. - Fasting-day engine. From the med list + the city's prayer times, it generates a personalized daily plan: which drug moves to iftar, which is reduced, which is split, which is unchanged — straight from the DAR medication tables — plus a "when to test" schedule. - Break-the-fast guardrail (the safety core). Patient logs fingerstick readings (manual, or photo-of-meter via Gemini). App applies DAR thresholds (<70 → break now; >300 → break/seek care) and predicts the afternoon low from the trend and time-to-iftar, warning before it hits. Framed religiously: breaking for medical necessity is permitted and the fast is not "failed."
